Brother Printer Stuck in Sleep Mode | How do I Fix It

Setting up the Brother printer in sleep mode has one definite advantage. It reduces Power Consumption. Turning off the fuser present inside the Brother printer when it is idle, puts it into sleep mode.

You can even set the time the printer will be going into sleep. Most of the time the Brother printer automatically resets itself or comes out of sleep mode when it receives any PC data.

Solution 1- Stop the Sleep Mode

In case, the printer does not automatically reset itself, you need to Stop the sleep mode. Follow these steps. 

  1. First, navigate to the Main menu and tap on the General Setup option.
  2. On the next screen, select the Ecology option. Here, scroll down and click on the Sleep Time button.
  3. Within the given space, you should enter the time for which you want to keep the machine idle. 
  4. Now, in order to disable the sleep mode of the Brother machine, in the beginning, you have to press the Start and the Option key simultaneously on the keyboard,
  5. Afterward, the ‘Sleep Mode On’ message will appear on the display. Next, press the Up or Down key in order to turn off the Sleep mode.
  6. Finally, press the OK button and thereafter tap the Stop/Exit button. You may have to wait for some time. When finished, restart the Brother printer to save the changes.

Solution 2- Reset your Current Windows Version

Way 1

Now, go to Reset this PC and here choose the Get Started option.

Way 2

Reboot your computer to see the sign-in screen. Afterward, press and hold down the Shift key and thereafter choose the Power icon. Move to the lower right- corner of the screen and tap on the Restart button.

Once your computer successfully boots up choose the Reset this PC option.

Way 3

Click on the Start menu and afterward press and hold down the Shift key. Next, choose the Power icon. Afterward, click on the Restart button in order to restart the computer in Recovery mode.

Once the computer has booted up successfully, choose the Troubleshoot option and then tap on the Reset this PC option.


  • How Can you Turn Off the Deep Sleep Mode?

Tap on the Start menu. From there move to the Control Panel. Within the Control Panel, scroll down and select the System and Security option. Now, under System, search and click on the Device Manager option.

Next, double-click on the Network Adapter in order to expand it. Furthermore, you should double-click on the Realtek Network Controller button. Proceed to the Power Management tab. Here, unselect the ‘Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power’ option.

After doing this, the network controller will not go into sleep mode.
